MELAKA, Feb 18 – Four 27-hole prestigious golf clubs in Melaka are seen to be capable of making the state host for large-scale international golf tournaments.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said at the same time, it will indirectly boost sports tourism planned by the state government.
“Other states also have golf courses and may even be better, but we still welcome organising of international level tournaments and the presence of famous players from Asia and even the world to come and play here,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the Melaka Golf Association Junior Golf Excellence Incentive presentation ceremony at the Ayer Keroh Country Club (AKCC) here today.
He said the prestigious golf clubs such as AKCC, Tiara Melaka Golf and Country Club, Orna Golf and Country Club and A’ Famosa Golf Resort are also expected to continue to be the best courses in unearthing the talent of Melaka’s children in golf.
“Besides the (golf) courses, we believe that with this incentive, more players will come to the fore and at the same time boost their enthusiasm to display quality play,” che said.
