PETALING JAYA, March 4 – The long-awaited phase 2 of the Putrajaya MRT line will open on March 16, says Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp).
MRT Corp said commuters can travel all the way from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral (and vice versa) beginning at 3pm on March 16.
The Putrajaya Line, formerly known as the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) line, runs through 36 stations to complete what is known as Klang Valley’s second MRT line.
With its full opening, it will be possible to get to KLIA and KLIA2 from downtown Kuala Lumpur for less than RM15.
This can be done by taking the MRT to Putrajaya Sentral, with the fare expected to cost only a few ringgit.
From Putrajaya Sentral, one can transfer over to the KLIA Transit, a service that is part of the Express Rail Line (ERL), with a one-way fare to either KLIA or KLIA2 costing only RM9.40.
An airport bus from KL Sentral to either airport typically costs RM12 per ticket.
