PUTRAJAYA, March 15 — Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has given her assurance that Buidget 2023 allocation for expenditure in the education sector including school maintenance will not be reduced.
Speaking to the media after launching the 2023 MSSM Calendar here today, she said the priority of the Education Ministry (MOE) in Budget 2023 is dilapidated schools.
“The priority of MOE in Budget 2023 is dilapidated schools which would be given preference, while maintenance allocation remains with no reduction as we want to ensure schools are safe, comfortable as well as the quality of education,” she said.
The national education sector continues to receive attention in Budget 2023 with the highest allocation amounting to RM55.2 billion compared with RM52.6 billion in 2022.
On worries of parents on the price of food at school canteen, Fadhlina said the issue does not arise as there are agreements and guidelines between the canteen and the school.
