JOHOR BAHRU, March 21 — The number of flood evacuees in Batu Pahat continued to drop to 3,086 people as of 8 pm tonight, compared to 5,667 people recorded at 4 pm today following the closure of 13 temporary relief centres after the flood waters receded.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a statement said that among the relief centres closed were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Senggarang, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Chinese) Li Chun and SK Sri Pandan.
According to JPBN, the closure of the relief centres means that a total of 25 relief centres that house 863 families are still operating, thus far.
“The three relief centres which shelter the highest number of victims are SK Seri Medan (365), followed by Sekolah Agama Seri Medan (361) and SK Taman Seri Kota, Yong Peng (258),” according to the statement tonight.
The weather in nine districts tonight is reported to be clear except for Muar which is expected to rain, while no rivers are recorded to be at a danger level.
