MELAKA, April 20 — The simple donation of a chicken and a bag of rice at the start of Syawal proved really gratifying for each of the 200 recipients of the Klebang state constituency.
For Rozita Ismail, 35, the food kit donation will brighten up her family’s meal on the morning of Syawal.
“Thank you very much because I can add this chicken to the Raya menu, especially for guests visiting to celebrate. Most importantly, my family can savour chicken rendang,” she said at the Raya Kit handover programme officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Meanwhile, Dari Mat, 70, said the donation helped him to prepare for Raya and benefited the needy.
“I live with 10 others in my family, including children and grandchildren. So, I am very grateful to receive this chicken and bag of rice,” he said.
Meanwhile, Klebang Besar Village Development and Security Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Yusof Abu Hassan said more than RM40,000 was allocated for the donation to benefit 200 recipients selected from around Klebang.
“It is notable that the recipients are not just Muslims but hail from all races and religions. We want the spirit of unity to be strengthened and, in the Klebang constituency, it is realised through this kind of programme,” he said.
