PUTRAJAYA, April 25 — The National Registration Department (NRD) says it issued a Temporary Identification Document (KPPK11) on April 13 to Lina Samuel, who reportedly died today of colon cancer.
The deceased was previously reported by the media as not having an identity card or MyKad to seek treatment at the hospital.
The NRD in its statement today said personnel had previously met with Lina and opened an investigation paper for her case.
“Out of concern for the deceased and her welfare, the NRD had issued a Temporary Identification Document (KPPK11) on April 13, 2023,” said the NRD while expressing its condolences to Lina’s family.
Media reports previously stated that Lina’s MyKad was confiscated when she wanted to change her address to vote in the 15th General Election (GE15) last year.
According to NRD, the Sarawak State Health Director in a statement on April 12 said that the deceased was still treated at the Miri Hospital without prejudice even during the time she did not possess her MyKad.
The department meanwhile urged the public with issues or queries related to the registration of birth, identity card, death, marriage and citizenship to head to any of the 212 NRD offices nationwide to seek help and advice.
