PETALING JAYA, May 12 — The dividend rate for the Special Farmers Investment Scheme (SPKP) of the National Farmers Fund (DPK) under the National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) is eight per cent for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2022 (FY22) which involves nearly 8,000 investors.

This was announced by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu at the dividend distribution announcement ceremony at D’Tunjong Banquet Hall in Kota Damansara here today.

NAFAS chairman Datuk Zamri Yaakob said DPK recorded a net profit of RM12.5 million with an overall distribution of dividends and bonuses totalling RM10.2 million whereas the distribution percentage was 83 per cent of the net profit.

He said the dividend rate involved a six per cent dividend and a two per cent bonus for the first RM50,000 investment.

“We are targeting in the near future at least 50,000 members investing in the farmers’ funds… there are approximately 921,000 farmer members nationwide,” he said at the ceremony in Kota Damansara.

In a statement, NAFAS said DPK announced a one per cent grant for DPK’s Al-Wadiah Ordinary Savings Account with a total payment commitment of RM10.3 million.

“DPK is able to provide competitive and consistent returns despite the uncertainty of the global economy post the COVID-19 pandemic by managing funds amounting to RM222 million for the financial year 2022,” it added.

At the same event, the DPK also announced the lucky winners of “Kempen Jom Melabur dan Menang bersama JomPAY” (Let’s Invest and Win campaign with JomPAY), which ran for three months from December 2022 to February 2023.

Farmers can invest easily and safely through online transactions using JomPay.

There were a total of 18 winners selected in the draw, with three main winners. The first-prize winner received a motorcycle, second prize (television) and third prize (handphone), whereas there were 15 consolation prizes (five recipients) and one-gramme gold bars (10 recipients).

Meanwhile, second-prize winner Rosli Daud, 57, from the Kuala Selangor Area Farmers Organisation, said the JomPay campaign gave him the opportunity to increase his investment and he hopes the DPK will continue its efforts to attract investors with a simplified investment process.

“DPK gives high returns, with a dividend distribution that is never less than eight per cent,” said Rosli, who has been an investor for almost five years.
