KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek made a surprise appearance as a newsreader in Buletin Bernama’s ‘Segmen Khas Kelas 2023′ on Bernama TV, in conjunction with Teachers’ Day today.
This 15-minute segment will be aired at 8 pm and 11 pm today, televising news about the initiatives of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and related to the education sector and teachers.
“This is not an easy task but Alhamdulillah, I am very proud to be part of the news fraternity today, firstly because I was able to realise my childhood dream of reading the news.
“Secondly, the process of reading the news is important… not to mention conveying information to viewers and listeners, so I learnt a strong discipline today to become a newsreader,” she told reporters when met at Wisma Bernama today.
Fadhlina described Teachers’ Day as an important moment for all to reflect and appreciate the services of teachers, as well as to improve the integrity and dignity of the teaching profession in addition to the teaching code of ethics.
She said for this reason, the MoE implemented several initiatives including announcing 10 initiatives to empower the welfare of teachers and reduce their workload.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2023, which is scheduled to take place from May 27 to 29, Fadhlina expressed her gratitude to media practitioners who covered MoE’s initiatives during the six months that she had served as minister.
“In our efforts to ensure that all information delivery to the people must reach the grassroots, the media is very important and this role must be performed by all media with full integrity, transparency and ensure that the information is accurate and verified.
“It is important for us to educate the community on how to access correct and true news, and verify it before being shared with others,” she added.
