MELAKA, July 16 — The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) will hold more Rahmah mobile sales, which are based on the ‘Kedai Cari Rakyat’ concept, to allow people to purchase necessities at cheaper prices.

Its deputy minister, Fuziah Salleh said the sale has so far been conducted in 78 different locations nationwide from June 17 to 30 since its launch in Penang, and in five locations in Melaka since June 22.

“Before its implementation, we held sales at retail outlets such as supermarkets and grocery shops, but through the ‘Kedai Cari Rakyat’ concept, we look for people and suitable locations.

“Last March, Parliament approved RM100 million for the nationwide implementation of the Rahmah Sale initiative. Going forward, we plan to implement sales at least twice a month in every constituency in the state,” she told reporters after officiating the Rahmah mobile sale at Pantai Puteri night market today.

More than 15 daily necessities are offered at prices 30 per cent lower than the market prices during the sale, she said, adding that the sales held in Melaka since June have generated over RM1.2 million and benefitted more than 100,000 visitors.

“From the total, Rahmah mobile sales contributed RM195,569.40 with a total of about 6,500 visitors,” she added.
