PUTRAJAYA, Aug 22 — The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has reminded the people to not fly drones without authorisation in areas designated for the National Day 2023 celebration in Putrajaya, from Aug 21 to 31.
It said the ban was, among other things, to avoid the risk of accidents to Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft which were conducting low formation flight training in the focus areas on these dates.
“The ban on drones is to ensure that National Day can be celebrated safely and to avoid unwanted incidents as it is involving the safety of the public,” it said in a statement.
CAAM said any flying activities, including the handling of drones, which can pose danger tothe public or public properties are governed by Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3); Regulation 98, Regulations 140-144 of the Civil Aviation of Malaysia Regulations and Civil Aviation Directives (CADs).
The 2023 National Day celebration will take place in Putrajaya on Aug 31 with the theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan’ (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope).
