KANGAR, Aug 28 — A total of 150 artists from 15 countries gathered here for three days from Aug 23 to 27 in conjunction with the Perlis Art Bridge Exhibition: International Art Camp 2023 programme organised by the City Art Gallery at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).

The Regent of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail expressed his gratitude to Datuk Vincent Sim Tiak Choo, the organiser of the programme, for bringing talented artists from abroad to the state and hoped that more similar exhibitions will be held in Perlis in the future.

“The artists’ works have inspired everyone here, not just the younger generation,” he said in a statement issued by UniMAP today.

The event was officiated by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Meanwhile, Sim, in the same statement, said that the programme was held in collaboration with the Perlis government, UniMAP, the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Polytechnic (PTSS), Persatuan Senilukis Perlis, Persatuan Senilukis Kedah Utara, and the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council.

“Through this programme, nine special paintings were granted to UniMAP, five to PTSS and 72 to the Perlis State Art Gallery at the Simpang Empat Library as part of the Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra (YTSP) collection.

“It is part of our small initiative to keep up the momentum of the Visit Perlis Year (TMP) 2024-2025 campaign, which aims to attract a total of 3.5 million domestic and international tourists to the state,” he said.
