JAKARTA, Oct 2 — China has made great achievements in the field of transportation, and Indonesia is looking forward to expanding and deepening its cooperation with China, the Indonesian transportation minister has said, reported Xinhua.
Indonesia’s Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi told Xinhua in an exclusive interview in Jakarta recently that China has leading technology in the railway, shipping, and aircraft manufacturing industries and has become a model for Indonesia and other developing countries.
Speaking of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), a landmark project of cooperation between China and Indonesia in the field of transportation, Sumadi said it has made Indonesia realise a leap in high-speed railway technology and enhanced the pride of the Indonesian people.
Sumadi said the Jakarta-Bandung HSR shortens the passage time between the two cities, greatly promoting regional people-to-people exchanges and driving the development sectors including tourism, employment, and education.
He said that the professionalism and dedication shown by Chinese builders are worth learning, and Indonesia hopes to continue to cooperate closely with the Chinese side in the operation and maintenance of the high-speed railway.
Indonesia also hopes to expand cooperation with China in the fields of aircraft manufacturing and shipping, Sumadi said, adding that he hopes more investment from Chinese electric car companies and battery manufacturing enterprises.
