JAKARTA, Oct 30 — President Joko Widodo reiterated the stand of the Indonesian government that strongly condemns Israel’s attack on Palestinians in Gaza.
Jokowi, as he is popularly known, said Indonesia was very angry with the worsening situation in Gaza, especially the humanitarian situation.
“We continue to follow the developments in Gaza and Indonesia’s stance is very clear and firm: strongly condemning random attacks on civilians and public facilities in Gaza,” he said in a statement today.
Jokowi called for an immediate end to violence and efforts towards a ceasefire.
He added that Indonesia is also in the process, adding that his country is actively communicating with various parties to resolve the issue.
He also emphasised the need for humanitarian aid to be accelerated and the first aid from Indonesia will be sent this week based on the requests and needs of the Palestinian people.
“This aid is a combination of contributions from the government, the business community and the community,” he explained.
