PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7 — The maximum retail price of bottled pure palm cooking oil for the period of Nov 8 to Dec 7 will remain the same, said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) today.

KPDN said the one kilogramme (kg) bottle is still RM6.90; 2kg is RM13.30, 3kg (RM19.60) and 5kg (RM30.90) as set under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

“This is the government’s commitment to continue easing the cost of living and tackling the issue of increasing prices faced by the people.

“It is to prevent consumers from being impacted by any form of unreasonable price increases,” said KPDN in a statement today.

Action will be taken under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 against any party that sells the oil at prices exceeding the maximum set, it said.

Individuals will be liable to a fine of up to RM100,000 or imprisonment of up to three years or both, while companies can be fined up to RM500,000, upon conviction, it said.
