KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is in the process of finalising the national tourism calendar for next year, which, among other things, is likely to feature several major events to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
The ministry’s Event Management Division secretary Mohd Radzi Omar said according to planning, a total of 54 programmes are targeted to be held next year.
“Among them are the Citrawarna Malaysia; the International Drum Festival and the Lion Dance Festival. However, we cannot publish this information yet since it has not yet been detailed in terms of the organising date.
“Therefore, the full calendar will probably be ready in a week or two,” he told Bernama at the MOTAC booth, in conjunction with the MADANI Government One Year Anniversary Programme at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, here today.
Mohd Radzi said that, based on planning, the Citrawarna Malaysia is likely to be held at Dataran Merdeka in May, while the International Drum Festival is planned in Melaka in June, with the cooperation of the state government.
In the meantime, Mohd Radzi said that the organisation of these mega programmes enables the ministry to preserve the country’s art, culture and heritage among the community, in line with the concept of MADANI.
