A subway train rear-ended another in Beijing on Thursday, leaving 102 passengers with bone fractures, said local authorities on Friday.
A total of 515 people were rushed to the hospital for examination, among whom 67 remain hospitalized as of 6 a.m. on Friday, and no death was recorded, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport said.
The two-train crash took place on the Changping Line on a downward incline. Brakes were not effective due to the inclement weather, according to an initial probe.
The accident occurred at 6:57 p.m. on Thursday evening. Local authorities have launched a further investigation into the crash.
The Chinese capital has received heavy snowfall since Wednesday, with train operations affected and schools suspended.
