KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 – Turkmenistan Airlines is expanding its international network by introducing four new routes including one to Kuala Lumpur.

The Turkmenistan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, in a statement, said the country’s national flag carrier will operate the Ashgabat-Kuala Lumpur route twice a week starting Feb 15.

“Flights from Turkmenistan to Malaysia will be carried out every Tuesday and Thursday, and in the opposite direction on Wednesdays and Thursdays,” the statement read.

The Turkmen aviators will also fly to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia three times a week starting Feb 16.

The airline adds two more international routes from Ashgabat to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, which will be operated twice a week from March 5, and to Milan, Italy once a week from March 6.

In early January, Turkmenistan Airlines resumed its flights between Ashgabat and Abu Dhabi.

The embassy said the expansion of the international network was part of the National Programme for the Development of Civil Aviation of Turkmenistan for 2012-2030, an initiative introduced by the country’s National Leader, former President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
