JAKARTA, May 11 – The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) are planning to conduct a three-day joint air patrol from May 20 to 22.

The joint air patrol aims at bolstering partnership in safeguarding the airspace security of both countries.

F-18 fighter jets from the 18th Squadron of the RMAF and F-16 fighter jets from the 16th Air Squadron at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base in Riau will be participating in the mission.

Discussions regarding this joint initiative took place during the Malaysia-Indonesia (Malindo) Series I 2024 coordination meeting held in Penang, Malaysia, from May 6 to 8.

According to a statement by TNI AU, the meeting also addressed strategies aimed at enhancing coordinated air patrols and improving information sharing to facilitate better surveillance of respective airspace.

The meeting was attended by the Malaysian delegation, led by Colonel Ahmad Edros Ahmad Osman, and the Indonesian delegation, headed by Colonel Nana Rusmana.
