KUCHING, May 27 – The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) plans to expand its strategic cooperation with Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) by establishing a ‘strategic placement’ programme to enhance the quality of news delivery.
Bernama Chief Executive Officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said the two agencies, which are under the Communications Ministry, can share their expertise for mutual benefit.
Nur-ul Afida said that in the near future, RTM will send journalists to be placed at Bernama’s Economic News Service, while Bernama will send technical staff to RTM.
“Soon we will start the placement programme, similar to an ‘exchange student’ where Bernama employees will go to RTM for appropriate training, and RTM employees will be placed in Bernama’s Editorial Department.
“So this is a collaboration that can help us improve our work outcomes, where we have the opportunity to learn RTM’s methods and RTM can also learn from Bernama, and we both benefit from this cooperation,” she said after appearing on the ‘Selamat Pagi Malaysia (SPM) X Apa Khabar Malaysia (AKM)’ programme on Monday.
Regarding the cooperation between Bernama and RTM in implementing the talk show programme, Nur-ul Afida said it could enhance the skills of staff in both news reporting and technical aspects.
In the talk show, Nur-ul Afida and Director-General of Broadcasting Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman were guests discussing the topic ‘Etika Teras Kewartawanan Mapan’.
The talk show was held in conjunction with the three-day National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA 2024) celebration, which began here on Saturday and will culminate with the highlight event to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
