KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 – Tourism Malaysia launched its booth at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) China 2024 at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, as part of continuous promotional efforts to promote Malaysia as a preferable tourist destination to tourism industry players in China.
Tourism Malaysia said in a statement that the Malaysian delegation to the three-day tourism trade fair, which started Monday was led by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Tourism Malaysia director general Manoharan Periasamy.
The delegation also included 39 organisations, including hotels and resorts, tour operators, tourism associations, product owners and an airlines, along with Penang Global Tourism and other state tourism boards, such as Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Perak.
Tiong described Malaysia’s participation in ITB China this year, its fourth since the tradeshow began in 2017, as a mark of the country’s commitment and sincerity to strengthen cooperation and deepen tourism and cultural exchanges through people-to-people exchanges, especially as both countries mark the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.
China remains one of the top tourism market sources for Malaysia and contributed 1.47 million tourists last year.
ITB China is one of the largest tourism trade fairs in China, held every year and is attended by National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), travel agencies, hotel operators and tourism products owners, as well as other tourism industry players from China and around the world.
