PETALING JAYA, June 13 – The parents of autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was found dead near a stream last year, have been charged at the Sessions Court with child negligence.

Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf, both 29, pleaded not guilty to the offence under Child Act 2001 after it was read out before Sessions Court judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh here on Thursday (June 13).

On Dec 5, six-year-old Zayn Rayyan, who had autism, was reported missing in Damansara Damai. His body was found near a stream about 200m from his home at the Idaman Apartment complex the next day.

A post-mortem revealed injuries to his neck and body, leading to the conclusion that he had been killed.

On Monday (June 10), Zayn Rayyan’s mother was brought to her home at Idaman Apartment in Damansara Damai to re-enact the incident before the boy’s disappearance.

Previously, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the re-enactment was one of the procedures necessary to complete the investigation before the case was presented to the deputy public procedure for further action.
