KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 – The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) will organise the Malaysia Culture Week 2024 in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China from June 26 to 30.

The ministry said in a statement that the event is a government effort to strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and China in line with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries.

“Malaysia, through MOTAC, will hold a Malaysian arts, culture and heritage promotion that will indirectly provide a chance to Chinese citizens, especially in the Autonomous Region of Uyghur Xinjiang to explore, understand and appreciate the richness of our country.

“With the theme ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’, Malaysia’s Pavillion will feature the country’s unique arts, culture and heritage through exhibitions, food and craft demonstrations, tourism product sales and promotions and a Business to Business session titled ‘Matchmaking Conference for Promoting Economic and Trade Cooperation, along with cultural performances throughout the five day programme,” the ministry said, adding that the programme, held in conjunction with the China-Eurasia Expo, will be led by Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

The ministry expressed hope that the programme would serve as a platform to promote the Visit Malaysia 2026 in China as well as the country’s unique arts and culture.
