MOSCOW, June 26 – The visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia is being prepared and the dates will be announced by agreement between the parties, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said on Tuesday, reported Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, Indian newspaper Tribune reported that Modi will make a one-day trip to Moscow on July 8.
“I can confirm that we are preparing a visit of the prime minister of India. We cannot announce the dates yet, because the dates are announced by the parties in agreement. But we are actively preparing, I will emphasise again, this visit will take place,” Ushakov told reporters, commenting on the reports.
According to the newspaper, Modi’s trip is significant not only because it is a standalone visit, but also because it comes soon after his inauguration for a third term and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s re-election as president for a fifth time in March.
The trip is expected to underscore the interaction between India and Russia as historic partners who are also seeking new partnerships in a rapidly changing world order.
