TAPAH, July 6 – A Malayan tiger was found dead after being hit by a car in an incident at KM314 on the northbound lane of the North-South Expressway here on Saturday (July 6).

The incident, which occurred around 5.45am, caused damage to the front of the vehicle driven by a man.

The tiger’s carcass was discovered in a drain along the highway.

Meanwhile, the Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Yusoff Shariff confirmed receiving a report on the incident when contacted.

“The male Malayan tiger was estimated to be four years old and weighed 120kg.

“The carcass will be taken to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai for further action,” he added.

Last month, Kelantan Perhilitan confirmed receiving a report of a tiger’s carcass that was found floating in a river in Kuala Krai.

On May 16, another adult tiger was found dead beside the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway near Lentang in Bentong, believed to have been run over by a vehicle.
