MOSCOW, July 8 – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that he had departed for Moscow where he would hold an annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported Sputnik. 

“I am embarking on an official visit to the Russian Federation for the 22nd Annual Summit and my first ever visit to the Republic of Austria over the next three days… I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues,” Modi said.

The Kremlin said on Thursday that Modi would visit Russia from July 8 to 9. He is due to land in the Russian capital at 3 pm local time (1200 GMT).

Russia and India seek to contribute to regional peace and stability, Modi said in the statement. He praised progress made by the two countries in energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture and tourism over the past 10 years.
