PARIS, July 31 – The Men’s and Women’s triathlon at the Paris Olympic Games went ahead as scheduled on Wednesday ending weeks of uncertainty about the event’s fate amid concerns about water quality in the river Seine.
France’s Cassandre Beaugrand won gold in the women’s event, while Julie Derron of Switzerland and Beth Potter of Great Britain won silver and bronze.
British triathlete Alex Yee won gold in the men’s event.
