PARIS, Aug 6 – Faith Kipyegon of Kenya has been reinstated as the 5,000 metres Olympic silver medallist after an original disqualification for obstruction, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
World champion Kipyegon was initially stripped of her silver after being beaten for gold by team-mate Beatrice Chebet on the home stretch.
However, the original order was restored shortly before midnight, according to the ruling body World Athletics, with Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands taking bronze.
