KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus on his appointment as Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh.

Anwar said Yunus’s vast experience promises to guide the nation with wisdom and integrity.

“As a new dawn rises over Bangladesh, bringing forth a renewal driven by the vigour and vision of its youth, I am reminded of the immortal words of the great Bengali painter-poet-philosopher Rabindranath Tagore: Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action; Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake,” Anwar posted on his Facebook page.

At this pivotal moment in history, the Prime Minister wished the people of Bangladesh every success and the brightest of futures.

On Thursday, the 84-year-old Yunus took the oath of office to lead a 17-member transitional government in Bangladesh.

This development followed weeks of protests that led to the fall of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government.
