MANJUNG, Aug 14 – The Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) aims to have all fishing boat owners nationwide register with the MyIsytihar LKIM application by the end of 2025.

Its chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said LKIM is intensifying its efforts to ensure 32,000 fishing boat owners download the application and that digitisation efforts within the industry are effectively implemented.

He said that, as of August this year, LKIM had registered 50 per cent of boat owners, or 16,000 individuals, since the application was launched two years ago.

“We are confident that the number (of registered users) will continue to increase due to the efforts of LKIM state offices. We aim for all boat owners to use the application by the end of 2025 at the latest.

“LKIM wants fishermen to use the facilities provided to facilitate self-declarations through smartphones, without being constrained by the operating hours of fish declaration and landing centres,” he told a press conference.

MyIsytihar LKIM, which was launched on Aug 10, 2022, is designed to streamline the declaration process for fishermen and enhance the government’s ability to gather accurate fish catch data
