KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 – Renowned Italian filmmaker Paolo Volponi and Polish entomologist Marta Skowron-Volponi are set to deliver a compelling talk that underscores the urgent need for conservation efforts to save the critically endangered Malayan Tiger and protect the rich biodiversity of the Malayan rainforest.

In a statement on Friday, the Embassy of Poland announced that the mission aims to raise awareness about the dwindling population of Malayan Tigers and the importance of preserving their natural habitat.

The collaborative effort, in partnership with the Perak State Park Corporation, Royal Belum park rangers, and local NGOs, is scheduled to take place at Pisco KL on Tuesday (Aug 20), at 8 pm.

“Paolo Volponi and Marta Skowron-Volponi will share their experiences and insights from their work in the field with the Orang Asli, highlighting the challenges faced by the Malayan Tiger and the broader ecosystem of the Malayan rainforest.

“They will emphasise the crucial role of conservation efforts in protecting these majestic creatures and the unique wildlife of the region,” the statement read.

According to the statement, with the support of the Perak State Park Corporation, Royal Belum park rangers, and the local Orang Asli community, Paolo Volponi and Marta Skowron-Volponi’s mission exemplifies a collaborative and community-based approach to wildlife conservation.

It said by engaging with local communities, they are working towards sustainable solutions for the preservation of the Malayan Tiger and its habitat.

“The event is jointly organised by the Embassy of Poland and the Embassy of Italy, underscoring the international cooperation and commitment to conservation efforts,” the statement read.
