KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 –  The wife of former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, has been granted temporary release of her passport by the Sessions Court on Friday to go to China.

Judge Azura Alwi allowed Na’imah’s application after the prosecution, represented by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Fadhly Mohd Zamry, did not object to it.

“The court allowed the application and the applicant (Na’imah) has to return the passport to the court within 48 hours from Sept 9,” she said.

Earlier, Na’imah’s lawyer, Nizamuddin Hamid,  told the court that his client needed the passport to travel to China from Aug 28 to Sept 9.

Before this, Na’imah had been granted temporary release of her passport to travel to Switzerland, Singapore, London and Venice.

She surrendered her passport to the court as part of her bail condition when she was charged with failing to declare her assets to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
