SINGAPORE, Aug 31 – United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) Antonio Guterres will make a three-day official visit to Singapore beginning Saturday (Aug 31) at the invitation of the republic’s Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong.

The Singapore Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement that this will be Guterres’ first official visit to the republic as the UNSG.

He will be accompanied by the Under-Secretary-General for Policy in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General Guy Ryder and other officials from the UN. 

While in Singapore, Guterres will call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and meet Prime Minister Wong as well as Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The prime minister will also host a lunch in honour of the UNSG.

Also, Guterres will be hosted to a tour of Marina Barrage and lunch with the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and the Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu.
