KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 – The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is showcasing halal-friendly products from 18 Taiwanese companies at the Taiwan Pavilion during the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2024), held from Sept 17-20, 2024.

The list of 60 unique products ranges from food and beauty items to detergents, underscoring Taiwan’s growing prominence in the global halal market.

A TAITRA spokesperson said Taiwan has made significant strides in developing its halal market over the past few years, adding that the country ranked third in the Global Muslim Travel Index 2024 for non-Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) destinations, reflecting its growing appeal to Muslim travellers.

“Since the establishment of the Taiwan Halal Centre eight years ago, the number of halal-certified businesses has surged from 700 to over 1,000.

“There are more than 20,000 halal-certified products from Taiwan, of which 80 per cent have been recognised by Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM),” she told the media during a tour of the pavilion.

Among the products showcased are Forever Sweety’s winter melon tea; Fufann’s range of pastes that enhance the flavour of any dish; and Meishan’s tea seed oil which has a high smoke point, making it suitable for the preparation of all kinds of Eastern and Western dishes.

The list of products also includes Be Rich Biotechnology’s range of enzyme products which promote good health, as well as Land Young’s high-quality frozen seafood and ready meals, a brand with over 40 years of experience in Taiwan’s market.
