VIENTIANE, Sept 24 – Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, will lead Malaysia’s delegation to the 42nd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and its associated meeting in Vientiane, Laos, from Sept 26 to 27.

In a statement, the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) said the meeting, chaired by Laos, will be attended by ASEAN Energy Ministers.

PETRA noted that discussions will centre on policy direction, infrastructure development, programme implementation, and the sharing of information, technology, and expertise in the energy sector among ASEAN member countries.

The statement underlined that Fadillah’s attendance reaffirms Malaysia’s commitment to advancing ASEAN’s agenda, particularly in preparation for the country’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

“As Deputy Chairman of the 42nd AMEM Meeting, Fadillah will outline Malaysia’s stance on various energy issues,” PETRA said.

A key focus will be the ASEAN Power Grid initiative, a cornerstone of Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, aimed at driving energy transition both domestically and regionally.
