KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 – Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, are set to participate in the National Press Club (NPC) Malaysia Golf Tournament 2024, which will take place at Tropicana Golf and Country Resort on Nov 26.

This marks the first time a royal couple will take part in an event organised by the NPC, as previous editions of the golf tournament featured either the Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister as the guest of honour.

NPC president Datuk Ahirudin Attan said the tournament, which is expected to attract 120 participants, is being organised after a break of seven years and is aimed at strengthened ties between the NPC, the government, corporate sectors and the media.

“In previous years, the NPC held this golf event annually. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to put it on hold. Now that the pandemic is behind us, we have revived the tournament,” he said in a statement.

He added that the event is open to Cabinet ministers, foreign dignitaries, captains of industry, senior editors, journalists, and other professionals, with categories for men, ladies, and seniors, the latter being for golfers aged 65 and above.

Participants can also look forward to lucky draw prizes and goodie bags, and registration is now open at the NPC clubhouse or via the contact number 012-632 0061.

The entry fee is RM450 for NPC members and RM600 for non-members.
