LABUAN, Oct 28 – An EC 725 AP helicopter belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) from No. 5 Squadron has conducted a relief supply sortie on the first day of its humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) mission in the Philippines.

RMAF, in a statement, said the mission involved a round-trip flight from Villamor Air Base to Bicol International Airport, transporting three outboard inflatable boats with engines.

Additionally, the flight carried ten boxes containing life-saving equipment.

It said all supplies delivered are intended for use in remote areas and around the city of Legazpi, Bicol, which has been affected by severe flooding due to Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami).

The first flight mission was carried out by Major Aslam bin Hariri of the RMAF, assisted by two crew members and three technical personnel. Joining the RMAF in this HADR mission are the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).

The RMAF will continue the HADR mission Monday.
