Iraq Signs Contract With UAE Companies to Produce Cars

BAGHDAD, Feb 20 — Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced on Thursday the signing of a contract with companies from the United Arab Emirates to establish an industrial complex for the assembly, production, and sale of various types of vehicles, including cars, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

“The ministry’s general company for automobile and mechanical engineering industries signed a partnership agreement with Iraqi and Emirati companies to establish an integrated industrial complex for the assembly, production, and marketing of various types of vehicles, including buses, light trucks, and passenger cars,” the ministry said in a statement.

Iraq aims to develop its local automotive industry and build plants to assemble car brands from around the world to make electric, environmentally friendly vehicles affordable for low-income citizens.
