BERLIN, March 15 — World champion Lando Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri failed to start the Chinese Grand Prix on a disastrous Sunday for constructors’ champions McLaren, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
Norris, who had qualified in sixth place, failed to make it on to the grid due to an electronics problem. Mechanics did not manage to solve the problem in time to have him start from the pit lane.
Piastri’s car was pushed back into the garage less than 10 minutes before the formation lap. The Australian, who was due to start from fifth, is yet to have a racing lap this season because he crashed on his way to the grid last week in Australia.
Alex Albon of Williams and Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto were also unable to start in Shanghai.
