ALOR GAJAH, Sept 10 — Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka (KUIM) and Jamiyah Singapore have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct masters courses in Syariah, Islamic Studies (Dakwah), and Leadership and Education Management.

“This is a very positive development as demonstrated through the smart academic partnership.

“The postgraduate programme will have a big impact on Jamiyah Singapore because it conducts programmes that are highly regarded,” said KUIM vice chancellor-cum-marketing and corporate management director, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Nasir Saludin, in a statement today.

The MoU signing which was held as a hybrid event and followed on Facebook from the Jamiyah Islamic Centre Al-Malik Faisal Hall, was witnessed by Melaka Governor and KUIM chancellor, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam and Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore, Datuk Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar.

The event also served to honour Azhar’s recent appointment as Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore.

Since 2011, KUIM and Jamiyah Singapore have had an MoU to conduct diploma courses in Syariah Islamiyyah, Usuluddin and Tahfiz Al Quran Wal Qiraat through a full- and part-time franchise programme.

“It has produced 150 graduates and presently there are 40 Singaporean students enrolled in the franchise programme at Jamiyah Singapore. Under the new MoU, there will be 15 students enrolled in the masters programme,” said Mohamad Nasir.
