RIO DE JANEIRO, May 8 — Colombian singer Shakira offered a preview of the official song for the 2026 football World Cup in a short Instagram video yesterday.
At the start of the song, Dai Dai, Shakira walks across the pitch at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro with the official World Cup ball, Trionda, tucked under her arm.
She then performs part of the song alongside dancers before the camera pulls away from the stadium, revealing the words “We are ready” displayed on the roof.
The full song by Shakira and Nigerian musician Burna Boy is scheduled for release on May 14. World football governing body FIFA also shared the singer’s Instagram post.
Shakira previously performed the official World Cup song for the 2010 tournament in South Africa with Waka Waka.
The men’s World Cup will be held in June and July in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Last weekend, the pop star performed a free concert at Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro before an estimated crowd of two million people.
