Haramain High-Speed Railway Station at King Abdulaziz Airport Enhances Fast, Safe Access For Pilgrims

JEDDAH, May 16  — The Haramain High-Speed Railway Station at King Abdulaziz International Airport continues to play a pivotal role in serving travellers, pilgrims and Umrah performers as one of the Kingdom’s leading integrated transportation hubs, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The facilities also providing direct connectivity between air and rail transport and contributing to improved mobility and access efficiency between major cities, particularly during the Haj and Umrah seasons.

The station is directly connected to Terminal 1 at King Abdulaziz International Airport, enabling seamless transfers between flights and the Haramain High-Speed Railway without the need for additional transportation.

This integrated transport system aims to enhance the travel experience and ensure smooth mobility for pilgrims arriving at the airport.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway is among the fastest trains in the world, operating at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour along a 453-kilometre route linking Makkah and Madinah via stations in Jeddah, King Abdullah Economic City and King Abdulaziz International Airport, making it one of the region’s most significant modern transportation projects.

The airport railway station is classified as one of the world’s largest airport-connected train stations, spanning approximately 105,300 square metres.

It has been designed and equipped with the latest operational systems and technologies to accommodate high passenger volumes and improve operational efficiency and services within the station.

The station contributes to providing fast and safe access for pilgrims, with travel time to Makkah taking approximately 45 minutes, while the journey to Madinah takes around one hour and 45 minutes.

This facilitates easier movement for pilgrims and Umrah performers between various destinations and supports the integration of transport modes within the Kingdom’s transportation and logistics system.

The airport station also plays a key role in supporting Haj and Umrah operational plans through its capacity to accommodate large numbers of travellers and enable arrivals and departures by integrating air and rail transport services.

This reflects the major development of the Kingdom’s transportation and logistics sector in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Pilgrim Experience Program.

Saudi Arabia Railways recently announced its operational plan for the 1447 AH Haj season, which includes operating more than 5,300 trips and providing over 2.21 million seats on the Haramain High-Speed Railway to serve pilgrims and enhance transport readiness between Makkah and Madinah.
