Zi Yu-Noraqilah Still Dissatisfied After Finishing China Masters as Runners-Up

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — National women’s doubles player Low Zi Yu admitted that she and her doubles partner Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan had mixed feelings after finishing the China Masters championship as runners-up.

Although she said she was happy securing a podium finish, she was dissatisfied with the pair’s performance in the final at Baoji Gymnasium, where they lost 13-21, 17-21 to Japanese pair Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi in 32 minutes.

“We’re happy to be on the podium but at the same time unhappy because we didn’t play well.

“During the final, we were less consistent maybe because of nervousness. This is something we need to fix,” she said in a statement shared by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

Zi Yu also expressed hope that they could do their best during their first Malaysia Masters set to begin on Tuesday.

The Super 500 Malaysia Masters offers US$475,000 (RM1.876 juta) in prize money.
