KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 The inaugural East Coast Energy (ECE) 2025, an energy transition summit for Malaysia’s east coast region, will serve to position Terengganu as a future-ready hub for energy transition.
Terengganu deputy state secretary (development) and director of state economic planning unit (UPEN) Datuk Tun Ahmad Faisal Tun Abdul Razak said the ECE 2025 will be a key mechanism to align public policies, industry innovation, and regional collaboration to support the national energy transformation agenda.
“ECE 2025 serves as a strategic opportunity to attract clean energy investments, increase public awareness of net-zero ambitions, and foster stronger partnerships across the East Coast economic corridor.
“Terengganu is committed to driving forward the renewable energy agenda — including solar power, carbon capture and storage (CCUS), green hydrogen, and sustainable infrastructure development,” he said in a press conference on the ECE 2025 here today.
The ECE 2025 is scheduled on June 23-24, 2025, at the Taman Tamadun Islam Convention Centre in Kuala Terengganu.
The event will be organised by Informa Markets, and supported by Terengganu Inc as strategic partner, Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Bhd (EPIC) as corporate partner and Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) as knowledge partner.
Meanwhile, Terangganu Inc president and group chief executive officer Datuk Burhanuddin Helmi Mohamed said the ECE 2025 was conceived with key objectives to establish a robust platform for meaningful dialogue between the government, industry stakeholders, and the broader community.
“Through ECE 2025, we would like to foster collaboration and active participation of local communities in energy-related developments, and highlight the socio-economic benefits for our small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs, and youths, ensuring that energy development translates into opportunities for all.
“As the strategic partner, we would also like to share valuable insights on energy transition, sustainability, and digitalisation,” he said.
Burhanuddin Helmi said the ECE 2025 is expected to be the region’s premier platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities, with over 800 delegates expected, marking a key milestone in advancing the East Coast’s role within Malaysia’s national energy strategy.
“This event will be the starting point for building a resilient, innovative, and inclusive energy ecosystem in the East Coast. This is a call to action for all of us to work together for a sustainable energy future,” he added.
The statement said corporate partner EPIC is honoured to spearhead the event as it celebrates the company’s legacy as the cornerstone of the East Coast’s energy ecosystem, said EPIC CEO Dr Muhtar Suhaili.
“For over four decades, EPIC has driven industrial growth and regional development.
“With ECE 2025, we are building on that foundation, bringing together innovation, sustainability, and collaboration to unlock new opportunities and deliver lasting impact for generations to come,” he said.
