KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — Malaysia’s pro shuttler Lee Zii Jia has advanced to the Canada Open semi-finals by defeating Taiwan’s Wang Po-wei 21-15, 21-13 in the quarter-finals at the Markham Pan Am Centre yesterday.
The 34-minute win marked the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist’s first semi-final appearance this season.
The world No.60 will face Japan’s Riki Takei in the semi-finals, who advanced from a quarter-final tie.
It will be the second meeting between the two, following Zii Jia’s victory over Takei in the Australian Open qualifiers in Sydney last month.
