KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 – A man was killed in a hit-and-run incident while removing a warning marker placed behind his vehicle after changing a flat tyre at KM13 of the Cheras-Kajang Highway last night.
Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said that in the 10 pm incident, the 46-year-old man, who was driving a silver Toyota Innova with five passengers, had stopped on the road shoulder to change a flat tyre.
“After changing the tyre, the victim walked to the rear of his vehicle to remove a bucket that had been placed as a warning marker for other road users when a red Toyota Innova struck him.
“The driver of the red Toyota Innova then fled the scene without stopping,” he said in a statement today.
Naazron said the driver of the silver Toyota Innova was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Insp Nur Faezah Mohd Zakria at 012-3268496 to assist in the investigation.
“Police advise all road users to drive prudently, always obey traffic regulations and exercise caution while driving,” he said.
