China Says Environmental Cooperation Becoming More Practical

LINZHI (Tibet), July 17 — China says environmental cooperation is becoming more practical and helping to promote green development, economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction.

Chinese diplomat Huang Xilian said China had signed environmental cooperation agreements with partner countries in areas such as financial cooperation, disaster prevention and mitigation, ecological conservation and environmental protection.

“We are pleased to see environmental cooperation becoming more practical,” he said in his opening address at the 5th China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation on Friday.

Calling for stronger international cooperation on environmental protection, Huang said cooperation projects would help promote green development, environmental protection, economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction.

China’s environmental protection efforts had resulted in its forest coverage reaching 30 per cent in 2025, he said.

Huang said China was ready to expand environmental cooperation with more countries to promote sustainable development and green growth.

“We are willing to work with all parties to advance environmental cooperation, safeguard the world’s marine environment, promote exchanges among civilisations and achieve high-quality economic development,” he said.

The 5th China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation, held from July 16 to 18, brings together government officials, diplomats, experts and representatives from various countries to discuss ecological conservation, sustainable development and regional cooperation.
