SINGAPORE, July 20 — Singapore’s Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, has resigned from his ministerial and political positions with effect from Monday.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said in a statement that the resignation of Muhammad Faishal was due to personal reasons.
Muhammad Faishal also served as Senior Minister of State (SMS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Member of Parliament (MP) for Marine Parade-Braddell Heights, and a member of the People’s Action Party (PAP).
Wong said SMS Zaqy Mohamad will be appointed Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs.
