KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 – Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has invited celebrities and the public to come together to make the Rumah Prihatin@Grand Seasons Iftar programme in aid of the asnaf (poor Muslims eligible for tithe assistance) a success.
Annuar said celebrities could get involved by showing up to the programme or sponsoring some asnaf, including the poor, orphans or homeless for as low as RM3 per person to break fast at Rumah Prihatin.
The Rumah Prihatin@Grand Seasons Iftar programme is a breaking of fast program for the public, especially for the less fortunate supervised by Rumah Prihatin and assisted by Prihatin Volunteers (Privo) with dishes cooked by five-star hotel chefs.
“I hope more popular artistes will show up as they are influencers and can sway the public toward a more positive direction and involve themselves in social welfare, community concerns and humanity and not just mere entertainment.
“I want their physical presence and it would be very meaningful to the public. The purpose of this programme is to show the human side of celebrities so that they can take the opportunity during the Ramadan month to do charitable work without huge costs,” he said during a media conference after launching the programme today.
A total of 305 visitors, including local residents, B40 families as well as 70 local celebrities, such as Datuk A.Aida, Puteri Sarah, Jasper Suppiah, Hanna Qistina, Dilla Ahmad, Aisah Atan, Uncle Kentang, Ridwan Mustafa, Zoey Rahman, Nafiez Zaidi and Afzan Rahman attended the launch of the 21-day programme, which begins today till May 1.
Annuar also presented donations to 18 students and two caretakers from Maahad Tahfiz Dhiya’ul Islah during the launch.
