Israeli Artillery Shelling, Explosions Hit Several Towns in Southern Lebanon

ISTANBUL, Aug 22 — Israeli forces carried out heavy artillery shelling, explosions and machine-gun fire in several areas of southern Lebanon overnight and early Saturday, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing Lebanese state media.

Heavy Israeli artillery shelling targeted the town of Mansouri, the vicinity of Bayt al-Sayyad and the outskirts of Majdal Zoun early Saturday, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA).

Israeli forces also carried out extensive explosions overnight in Mansouri, Majdal Zoun and Bayt al-Sayyad, the agency said.

NNA reported that homes in Bayt al-Sayyad had been extensively destroyed, saying that no house in the town had been left undamaged.

Similar explosions were reported in the towns of Hadatha, Beit Yahoun and Aita al-Jabal, while machine-gun fire was also directed towards nearby valleys.

Israeli drones also continued to fly over villages and towns in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon, the agency added.
