KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 – Selangor’s flagship technology convention, formerly known as the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), has been rebranded as AiSEM@Selangor, the AI & Semiconductor Summit, reflecting the state’s stronger focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.
Its organiser Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) said the summit’s 11th edition will be held from Oct 14-17, 2026, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, as part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026.
The Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) will be the co-organiser of the summit, Sidec said in a statement.
“As the digital economy matured, AI and semiconductors became the bigger opportunity. AiSEM@Selangor carries that forward, spotlighting homegrown Malaysian chips powering robotics, autonomous systems, and the low-altitude and low-orbit economies,” it said.
Sidec said the summit will feature more than 60 speakers, with ShunSin Technology Holdings Ltd chairman and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd (Foxconn) board member Chiang Shang Yi headlining the lineup.
They will be joined by FuriousaAI founder and chief executive officer (CEO) June Paik, Synopsys Taiwan global vice-president and chairman Robert Li, Amazon Web Services head of cloud solutions for semiconductor and high-tech Umar Shah, and TCab Tech chief executive officer Yon Wui Ng, it said.
It added that the summit will also feature more than 150 technology exhibitors, including global chipmakers Intel and Sandisk, homegrown players such as Oppstar, SkyeChip and Maistorage Technology, as well as national agencies including MIDA, MRANTI and several Selangor local councils.
“For job seekers, the draw is the Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day, where more than 50 industry employers — including Sandisk, Sophic MSC and Tektronix — will meet directly with engineering and technical talent, from students to experienced professionals,” it said.
The summit will open with the Triple Accelerator Programme Grand Final Demo Day at the Plenary Theatre, KLCC, on Oct 14, featuring 24 finalists comprising the top eight companies from each of Selangor’s Deep-X, Retail-X and Token-X tracks.
Sidec said the programme has run 11 cohorts since its inception and drawn nearly 1,900 applications, and backed 380 companies that have collectively raised RM212 million in funding.
Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said the summit would contribute to Malaysia’s efforts to build a globally competitive AI and semiconductor ecosystem by bringing together talent, technology and investment.
“Selangor sees itself as one part of a national semiconductor story, and AiSEM — designed by Malaysia, for Malaysia — is our contribution to writing it, by putting talent, technology and investment in the same room, in the same week,” he said.
Admission to the exhibition and Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day is free, while conference passes are priced at RM399 for a two-day all-access pass or RM299 for a one-day pass.
